Old Ordnance Survey Maps of Jarrow & South Shields

We have a close affinity with South Shields and Jarrow, for virtually all of our maps have been printed here, ever since we began in 1981. The South Shields map remains one of our most popular to this day. The group of maps have a fine mix of docks, shipyards, collieries and interesting townscape, one made especially interesting to many by its links with Catherine Cookson and her novels.

Further details about individual maps are given on our On-line Mapshop.

These are the principal maps for South Tyneside (though sheets 7, 8 and 19A also include marginal areas). Apart from an introduction, each map also includes extracts from contemporary directories.
