Old Ordnance Survey Inch to the Mile Maps

  • These maps normally cover an area of about 18 miles by 12 miles and are especially good at showing railways, roads and canals, and at giving a broad view of a wider area. Each includes an introduction and a more detailed map of a small town or village. They are available through our On-line Mapshop

  • One Inch Sheet 119 Snowdonia 1903 - published 2005; intro by Derrick Pratt. ISBN.978-1-84151-746-9

    This Inch to the Mile map covers Snowdon and the area south and east. Coverage stretches from the Afon Dwyfawr valley and Treflys eastward to Pen y Bedw, and from Snowdon southward to Porthmadog. Tremadoc and Blaenau Ffestiniog are the other towns shown. Several railways are shown winding among the mountains, including the Croesor Tramway, Festiniog Railway, Bala & Ffestiniog Railway, Conwy Valley line, North Wales Narrow Gauge Rly. Apart from Snowdon, mountains include Yr Aran, Mynydd Mawr, Moel Hebog, Moelwyn Bach, Moelwyn Mawr. On the reverse is an extract from Merioneth Sheet 11.10 showing Penrhyndeudraeth in 1913.


    It is not possible to list the many hamlets, farmsteads and other topographical features shown on these maps.
