    This detailed map covers Witton, Woodside and part of Low Etherley, west of Bishop Auckland.

    Features include the village of Witton Park, with many now lost terraced streets; the hamlets of Woodside, California and Phoenix Row; Etherley Lane, Etherley station (at Witton Park), Old Etherley Colliery, etc. A major feature is the old incline at Phoenix Row which was the start of the Stockton & Darlington Railway. On the reverse we include part of adjacent sheet 34.13 extending coverage north to the site of the former ironworks.

  • The map links up with sheet 33.16 Witton le Wear to the NW, and 42.02 Bishop Auckland to the east.
