Old Ordnance Survey Inch to the Mile Maps

  • These maps normally cover an area of about 18 miles by 12 miles and are especially good at showing railways, roads and canals, and at giving a broad view of a wider area. Each includes an introduction and a more detailed map of a small town or village. They are available through our On-line Mapshop

  • Here is information about Sheet 351 & 358:

  • One Inch Sheet 351 Penzance & St Ives Bay 1888 - published 2001; intro by Peter Wesley. 978-1-84151-316-4
  • One Inch Sheet 351/358 Land's End, Penzance & St Ives 1894 - published 2011; intro by Richard Oliver. 978-1-84784-459-0

We have published two versions of sheet 351, which covers the area from St Just to Hayle, and from St Ives southward to Penzance. Please note that the 1894 version also includes sheet 358, covering the Land's End area.

On the reverse of the 1888 version is a detailed map of the village of St Just, together with Carn Bosavern, Higher Bosavern, and Tregeseal.

On the reverse of the 1894 version is a map of Marazion, including part of St Michael's Mount.

It is not possible to list the many hamlets, farmsteads and other topographical features shown on these maps. However, you may find it useful if we list the towns and principal villages or church parishes that are included on this map:

  • Cornwall: Gernoe, Gulval, Gwinear, Gwithian, Hayle, Ludgvan, Madron, Marazion or Market Jew, Morvah, Penzance, Perran Uthnoe, Phillack, St Erth, St Hilary, St Ives, St Just, Uny Lelant, Zennor.
