Ten new maps for Tyneside to be published in 2026-7
To celebrate the 45th anniversary of our map series, which began in September 1981 with a map for Gateshead East in 1895, we are preparing a group of
ten new maps for Tyneside during the winter of 2026-27. These will all be taken from the OS 1:2500 (or 25-inch) maps and reduced in scale, and each will have a
specially written introduction. The group will inclue maps for both Gateshead and Newcastle, and both North and South Tyneside will also be represented.
The first title is expected to be published in early December and the rest will be published,
normally two maps at a time, within about six months. The lead author will be John Griffiths and there will also be contributions by Anthea Lang. The group will help us
strengthen our coverage of the area that was at the forefront of the series in its early days.
Subscriptions give an excellent discount, and also support us in our mission to cover as many towns and villages as possible. Each map will include
a specially written introduction. Maps are normally sent to subscribers, postage free, a few days before publication. A subscription costs just
£ 35.00 for the ten new maps, a substantial saving on the normal price. There is a Earlybird offer of £ 30 until mid October.
