Old Ordnance Survey Inch to the Mile Maps

  • These maps normally cover an area of about 18 miles by 12 miles and are especially good at showing railways, roads and canals, and at giving a broad view of a wider area. Each includes an introduction and a more detailed map of a small town or village. They are available through our On-line Mapshop

  • Here is information about Sheet 181:

  • One Inch Sheet 181 Ludlow, Tenbury & District 1897 - published Dec 2005; intro by Barrie Trinder. ISBN.978-1-84151-848-0

This One Inch to the Mile map covers the area on the Shropshire - Herefordshire boundary, stretching from Leintwardine eastward to Tenbury Wells, and from Bromfield southward to the outskirts of Leominster. Woofferton Junction is in the centre of the map and we include a detailed map of this on the reverse, also including part of Brimfield.

It is not possible to list the many hamlets, farmsteads and other topographical features shown on these maps. However, you may find it useful if we list the towns and principal villages or church parishes that are included on this map. Links are given for those for which detailed large-scale maps are also available.

  • Herefordshire: Adforton, Aston, Aymestrey, Brimfield, Burrington, Collington, Downton on the Rock, Elton, Eye, Eyton, Hatfield, Kimbolton, Kingsland, Leinthall Starkes, Leintwardine, Little Hereford, Lucton, Middleton on the Hill, Orleton, Pudleston, Richards Castle, Rochford, Shobdon, Thornbury, Wigmore, Yarpole.
  • Shropshire: Ashford Bowdler, Ashford Carbonell, Bitterley, Boraston, Bromfield, Burford, Caynham, Corley, Greet, Hope Baggot, Hopton Waters, Ludlow, Milson, Neen Sollars, Whitton.
