Old Ordnance Survey Maps of Perivale

We have published more than 2,100 maps in our series of Old Ordnance Survey Map reprints, some 300 of them in the London area. The maps are highly detailed. They are taken from the OS 1:2,500 (or 25 inch) maps and reduced to about 15 inches to the mile. They show streets with individual houses, tram tracks, railway tracks and even signals, factories, wharves and such details as fountains and water troughs. They will provide hours of fascination for historians and genealogists. The maps are neatly folded and each includes a specially written introduction to the area. Maps can be purchased on our On-line Mapshop where further information about titles is given.

Here are the details of maps for Perivale:

  • London Sheet 45 Perivale 1894 - published 1989, 2nd Ed 2002; introduction by Peter Hounsell

At present we have published just the one map for Perivale. It covers an area of a mile by a mile and a half, centred on Perivale village, with its church, Grange Farm, rifle range and little more. Most of the map is rural, with the River Brent flowing through the centre. The lower quarter of the map is more built up, with the beginnings of development along Pitshanger Lane, Castle Bar Park, Montpelier Road. On the reverse we include part of a six inch to the mile map covering a wider area, including Perivale, Greenford Green, Horsendon Hill and a stretch of the Grand Junction Canal.

An index map showing the areas covered by this and adjacent maps is available here. The map links up with Sheet 56 Ealing to the south; and with Middlesex Sheets 15.07 Greenford to the west and 16.05 Hanger Hill to the east.
