Just a quick Postcard for June!
On Saturday 5th June Heike and I ran a very successful stall of our maps at the Sunderland History Fair, which was very busy, with lots of new faces, and a few old ones! Virtually all the Sunderland maps we took were bought.
But otherwise, this must be in the nature of a 'holiday postcard', somewhat delayed in the post.
Sometimes external events catch up with us, pleasantly or otherwise, and it becomes necessary to grab some breathing space. This June, in rapid succession, I found myself organising the semi-staged performance of a short play I'd written, and then playing the lead role in Noel Coward's Present Laughter for a drama society in Durham. I have now reached an age when I need a few hours recovery time after these exertions! Other events are lined up for the next couple of weeks (of which more anon).
All this may have little to do with map production but, as I haven't taken a proper holiday for years, I hope nobody will complain if I take things a little easier for a few weeks, even taking the occasional day off. The office will be unaffected - Donna, Liz, Suzanne and Heike will be here as usual - and maps will be sent out as quickly as ever. There will be a steady stream of new titles, but not quite as many as usual. Normal service will be resumed by mid August.
A July Newsletter will be put on line within the next fortnight. Meantime, by way of postcard amusement, here is my alter ego.
